Throughout time, the women of Polynesia have played essential roles in their communities, churches, and homes.  Within extremely high pressure, male-dominated societies, they have persevered behind the scenes.   They are strong willed and well renowned for their absolute grace.  For a long time, they were oppressed and treated like second rate citizens. Across Polynesian today, women are being given the opportunity to work more jobs and to help supplement the family income.  One issue with women on the islands is that, by law, they are not being put down.  They have the same legal rights as the men do.  However, in their churches, homes, and cultures, women are not necessarily the same as men.  Change has been on the horizon for the islands residing the Pacific Ocean for a very long time.  Hopefully soon, we will see a complete change for the better.
